Hej
T6 - Afghanistan
Yesterday S53R, Robert, signed his license and today will return it
"signed and stamped from the telecoms authority". He received his T6AA
call and T6A callsign from ATRA. His "First tranche of the equipment
(spiderbeam, DXA-2800 rotor, SG1000 amp, accessories) is at customs
and should be released by next week". During the first week of August
he will be going home to Slovenia and then returning to Kabul on
August 31st. When he returns he will take a TS590SG and another SPE
1.5K FA and MKIII interface. Plans are to begin operating the first
week of September. Robert is an excellent CW op and plans to "mainly
stick to CW as it is [his] preferred mode. He will do some SSB and
Digital work, including RTTY, FT8 and FT4. "Last weekend I built the
low band antenna for 160/80/40/30 as all the material is available
locally, and it has been installed on the top of 37m tower" reports
Robert. He says this will "give a good shoot to EU and NA/Central
America, while Asia is easy and should not be a problem". Another
vertical is in the planning stages for 160, 80 and 40 meters to be
installed on an 18 meter high SpiderBeam pole. Also in the works is a
Spiderbeam for 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 meters to be erected on a 17
meter tower with a five element 6 Meter Yagi above that. Robert thinks
local noise could be a problem, therefore he will install a K9AY loop,
before the low band season begins. He does not have ample room for a
Beverage. Robert says his activities will take place during his local
mornings and evenings and "more activity over the weekends which is
Friday and Saturday". At the moment Robert's plan is to handle the
QSLing and "for sure the contacts will be uploaded to LoTW on a weekly
basis, or at least every month". He hopes to get OQRS going for the
paper confirmations, but no bureau QSLs will be available.
